New Website and a New Committee

Written by Aaron Guild

With a new year comes a new committee, the Mafeking Rover Park Committee of Management Annual General Meeting was held on Monday the 16th of August at the Victorian Rover Center, the AGM was well attended with around 30 members of the Scouting movement in attendance.  All positions were vacated and opened for nominations, Michael Quayle from Craigieburn Rover Crew has taken over the Chairmans role for coming year and has a strong committee behind him with most positions being filled on the night.  A list of committee members can be found here.

In addition to the new Committee we have also launched a new fresh design for the Parks website, the new design was released in the first week of August and is the first step in refreshing the website, its contents and adding new features and functions.  Any feedback regarding the website should be directed to the webmaster by emailing the webmaster

Written by Aaron Guild

Mafeking Open Day - Saturday 13th March

It is with great pleasure that the Mafeking Committee of Management invites all members of the Scout Association to attend the 2010 Mafeking Open Day to be held on Saturday the 13th of March from 11am till 4pm.

The Rovers of Victoria purchased Mafeking Rover Park in Late 1992, so its time to celebrate 18 years of hard work and progress. The Mafeking Open Day will give all members of scouting the opportunity to come and find out what great facilities and activities we have to offer. We ask for assistance in promoting this day to all sections of your group.

Bring your Scout Group and enjoy the many natural and Rover-made features of the Park. Activities on the day include:

  • A hay-ride tour of the Park
  • Abseiling
  • BMX riding and Billy Carts
  • Mudbash Display
  • Learning to drive with our CAMS Junior Development Program
  • Damper Making
  • Archery
  • Volley ball, Golf and cricket
  • Orienteering, Commando Course
  • Canoeing and Waterslide

To help make the day extra special, a FREE sausage sizzle lunch along with cordial, tea and coffee is provided – especially to those that RSVP. Please leave your name, scout group, a contact number and an approximation of how many visitors are attending.

A few last notes – there is a fully –serviced amenities block, a large Crew Hall as well a covered picnic area. Should the weather be inclement, there are many places to shelter and activities will still operate. Showers will be available for water activities participants, and we advise all participants to bring along a change of clothes, towel, drinking water and snacks. Please remember to bring your Health form, and youth members,  12 years and older wishing to participate in the Junior Development Program, will need to bring the consent form linked below to participate.
